Welcome to Wendy Williams and Babylock
It’s been a couple of busy weeks for the shop with new products coming in each day. Our two picks of the week has to be a range of Wendy Williams’s patterns and her latest book, gorgeous rich colours and bold patterns. To complement her patterns we have just received some beautiful 100% wool and some scrummy soft bamboo felt. We have extended our wool blend felt and DMC pearl threads collections and the DMC Light Effects skeins look stunning against the jewel colours. If you are in store, check out Linda’s progress of the Baby Blooms cushion she’s stitching. Check out the super cute Xmas felt decorations as well, there are two types. One is of traditional decorations, whilst the other is Kiwiana themed. In my spare time I’ve finally finished a distressed cabinet to house the felts, you’ll find them tucked up against the back wall of the shop.
Our second new edition is the Babylock brand of over-lockers, cover seam and Sashiko machines. We have the Imagine in store waiting for you to sit down and have a play. There’s no doubting that the Imagine is the Rolls Royce of the over-locking world, with the air jet threading system and no need to fiddle with tension when swapping between different fabrics, you’ll find it a joy to work with.
Our first over-locking class was attended by four lovely ladies and Kaye soon had them threading up their machines, checking tension and solving general maintenance issues with their machines. It was an extremely informative class and Kaye certainly taught us all some new tricks. We are running another two classes in December. On Monday 5th December we will be running the “Get to Know Your Overlocker” and Tuesday 6th December with be a follow on where you get to make a small project using several different techniques. We have lengthened the class to 2 ½ hours from 6.30pm – 9.00pm and fees are $30.00 per class, or $55.00 for both. At this stage we only have 1 or 2 spots left, so flick us an email at email@example.com if you wish to attend. We will be running these classes periodically in the New Year and will update you on the dates.
Finally, Linda and I hope that you and your families are all safe and well, especially everyone affected by the quakes last week. Our thoughts are with you all.
