Greetings to you all
We have finally moved and nearly settled into the new shop at 355 Riccarton Rd. A big thanks to all you well-wishers and a tremendous round of applause for all of you that kindly offered your time to help with the move. We need to add a bit more signage as the entry is at the rear of the building where all the car parks are. A wee reminder too that our hours are now 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm Saturday and Sunday.
We have had a lot more fabric arrive, including Janet Clare’s Aubade: a song to the dawn. There are 12 fabrics in the range, all in various shades of inky blues and creams.
Landscape fabrics have arrived for all you that make art quilts, with a great range of stonework, brick, bark and sky.
From Moda we have received some of the Liberty brushed cottons, lovely rich reds and blues.
For the kids, we now have in store “How much do I love you”, there are 7 cottons, 2 coordinating brushed cottons and a really snugly plush in stock.
We have also added to our patterns, including Kids Quilts & Zen Chic.
And a sneak preview of what is in the pipeline, we have Anthology Batiks arriving, along with Jacqueline de Jonge patterns. 40wt Aurifil cottons are being shipped as we speak and should be in store by the end of May.
With moving I have not had the opportunity to sort out the classes as of yet, but in saying that we are hoping to run a general quilting class on Saturday mornings from 10am-1pm. It will commence next Saturday 14th May and run for 9 weeks, cost is $25 per session, $225.00 for the term. There is also spaces available on Wednesday night, 7pm-10pm, running for 9 weeks and $225.00 for the term.
Mary will be taking a beginners class on a Tuesday morning, from 9.30am – 12.30pm. She will take you through making a small sample quilt using many different techniques. Please contact us to book a spot and get the needs list. This class is for 10 weeks.
Give us a call on 03 3480170, text 027 406 8005, or email us at email@example.com . Both Wednesday and Saturday classes are open to everyone, from beginners to experienced quilters, all that we ask is that you bring along a positive attitude and be prepared to have some fun! Sandra will be your tutor.
For the month of May we are running a wee competition, $5.00 entry fee, with spot prizes drawn on the 31st May. Proceeds go to providing batting to groups making quilts for families in need. The theme is pincushions, great and small, fluffy, cute, practical, slightly zany. The only condition is that it has been made by yourself. So get your thinking caps on and get them in to us before the 29th May.
We have a new staff member with us now, Mary. She will be with us part-time and will be in store in the weekends. Mary has a lot of knowledge to share and a great eye for colour. Great to have her on board.
